Threads 87: Useful baskets in the Bathroom
Clothes basket
This is a large willow clothes basket that I made with Joe Hogan several years ago. He called it a belly basket! The lid is interesting as it is a round flat piece complete with a handle, and fits Into the shaped top. Everybody needs somewhere to put their dirty washing and a basket is a perfect place. Really epic. I know you want to do that.
Toilet roll basket
This little basket is a great way to store a spare roll of toilet paper in your bathroom. The basket is made with the plating technique and it is double woven. However, the material is quite interesting. It is a vinyl fabric and was found in a book of samples of vinyl material which was used in a decorator store as a sample book. It was quite a large book, and it provided just sufficient pieces to make this container. ‘
Small cedar basket
This small, rectangular basket can be used anywhere in the house, I also have one on my desk. It is just the right size, to hold objects, like pens, nail files, dental floss, safety pins, and anything else small that needs a home. I don’t know what I would do without mine!
To make the Cedar basket
You need a container to work over as a shape, and for this basket, I use a cardboard tea container. You will need pieces of half-inch cedar strips for the war, and several long pieces for the weaving. I used Rafia for the weaving, but fine Cedar bark would probably be more attractive. It has a beautiful folded border. If anybody would like the details please send me an email.
